About Van Gogh’s Home: The Van Gogh Museum. The Painter’s Legacy, the Family Collection, the Ongoing Story:
Van Gogh’s Home, on view from September 12 to December 21, 2025, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, is the first exhibition in Japan to focus on the Van Gogh family collection. Presenting rare works and archival materials, the show retraces how Vincent’s brother Theo, his sister-in-law Jo, and nephew Vincent Willem preserved and promoted his legacy—culminating in the foundation of the Van Gogh Museum. A moving tribute to family devotion and artistic endurance, the exhibition illuminates how Van Gogh’s dream to be seen “a century from now” became a global reality.
