Through bold color, expressive brushwork, and deep-rooted national symbolism, Skulme’s paintings reflect her resistance to ideological constraints and her unwavering dedication to Latvian cultural heritage. This centenary exhibition explores her evolution from state-imposed realism to modernist abstraction, her feminist undertones, and her pivotal role in Latvia’s fight for independence.
