Anarchy, 2025 An Abstract, Mixed Technique, Painting
A charged abstract with bold black structure and sudden color strikes that bring restless movement into view.
Set against a raw, earthy ground, sweeping black forms collide with blue and orange-red accents in a composition that feels both forceful and open-ended. The mixed technique keeps the surface active, with drips, overlaps, and abrupt shifts that invite the eye to keep searching rather than settle too quickly. The painting is built through tension between mass and motion. Broad black gestures anchor the surface, while thinner lines, drips, and flashes of color break that weight into directional movement. Blue holds the center with a cool counterforce, and the warmer orange-red marks act less as decoration than as brief points of ignition. The brown paper-like ground remains visible enough to give the composition air, so the work never closes in despite its dark tonal strength. That balance of raw material presence and deliberate structure is what sustains attention.
Where It Fits
This piece has the strongest presence in spaces that benefit from visual energy rather than calm neutrality. In a creative studio, design workspace, or art-led room, its assertive contrast and active surface can sharpen the atmosphere and keep the eye engaged. At 40 x 50 cm, it carries real intensity without needing a large wall, making it especially effective where a compact work should still feel intellectually and visually alive.
Artistic Perspective
Braunstein’s abstract language here feels authored rather than incidental: gesture is used to build structure, not simply release emotion. The work’s modernist clarity—forms, lines, material surface, and contrast doing the main expressive labor—gives it a gallery-facing character. For collectors drawn to contemporary abstraction, it offers a convincing mix of immediacy and formal control, with enough ambiguity to keep yielding new readings over time.
