About Cai Guo‑Qiang: Gunpowder & Abstraction – White Cube Mason’s Yard:
From September 26 to November 9, 2025, White Cube Bermondsey presents Gunpowder and Abstraction, Cai Guo-Qiang’s first solo exhibition in London in over 20 years. Coinciding with Frieze Week, the show features a decade of his signature gunpowder paintings—ignited directly onto paper, canvas, and mirror. Blending abstraction, nature, and painterly references to Old Masters, Cai’s work explores the intersection of destruction and creation in a striking visual language that is both timeless and radical.
