About Edwin Austin Abbey: By the Dawn’s Early Light:
From November 20, 2025 to February 15, 2026, the National Gallery, London, presents Edwin Austin Abbey: By the Dawn’s Early Light, a focused exhibition celebrating one of America’s great yet often overlooked artists. Centered on Abbey’s monumental preparatory painting for The Hours, created for the Pennsylvania State Capitol, the exhibition explores his late-career masterpiece. Visitors can admire this allegorical work in full scale alongside sketches and studies that illuminate Abbey’s process and his transatlantic influence during a period of American cultural renewal.
