Abstract
Avidor Stematsky was an Israeli painter and printmaker. Born in 1908 in Odessa, he immigrated to Israel in 1921. Stematsky studied at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and in the 1930s, he spent time in Paris, where he closely studied the avant-garde art of the era.
He founded the "Masad" group and was a key figure in the establishment of the "New Horizons" movement, which was characterized by modern and abstract painting styles. Stematsky also established a respected painting workshop in Tel Aviv with Yehezkel Streichman and served as a teacher at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv.
Stematsky's style is abstract and unique. Throughout his life, he received significant recognition within the Israeli art community, winning various awards and having his works exhibited in prominent galleries and museums, including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Israel Museum.
Even today, Stematsky is considered one of the most prominent and influential artists in Israeli art. His works are held in important private and public collections both in Israel and internationally.
