Marco Barberio the self-taught artist blending pop culture and realism with urban soul
Realism | Figurative
I was born in 1960 in the Paris region.
Although drawing has always been part of my life, I waited until 2003 to start painting. I'm first and foremost an adept of line before considering color, and it's through light that I approach it.
After a period of self-taught discovery, in 2005 I took an art workshop in Vélizy (78), followed in 2006 by a semester of “live model” workshops at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Versailles. Parallel to this revelation of the human (and especially female) body as an object and inexhaustible source of art, I discovered dry pastel.
In August 2008, I moved from the Paris suburbs (Versailles) to sunny Provence.
Since then, I've continued my research into composition and light, almost always focusing on female figures. Since 2010, I have abandoned dry pastels in favor of oil painting on canvas.
In July 2014, I was able to attend a workshop with Shane WOLF, which only confirmed my artistic choices.
