Yitzhak Frenkel Parnell

Frenkel was born in the city of Odessa. He began studying painting as a teenager at school in his hometown. He immigrated to Israel in 1919. Upon his arrival in Tel Aviv, he established a painting studio in the carpentry shop of the Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv, and was a partner in the establishment of the "Tamar" cooperative for the promotion of modernist art in the Land of Israel.

In the 1920s, he spent several years in Paris and studied art at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, and was greatly influenced by the Paris School.

Upon his return to Israel, Frenkel founded the "Painting Studio", which operated until 1929 and taught many esteemed artists such as Mordechai Levanon, Genia Berger, David Hendler and more.

After the studio closed, Frenkel went to Paris again for a few years, where he began to create in a realistic style.

Frenkel's works have been exhibited in a large number of exhibitions, some of which are in important collections in Israel and around the world.
