Ephraim Roitenberg, known as "Pima" (1914-2005), was born in Harbin, China. He studied painting and architecture there, and immigrated to Israel in 1949. He lived and created in Jerusalem, Italy, and Paris.
Pima's work was heavily influenced by Chinese culture, and his style is characterized by abstract paintings, figure paintings, and still lifes, some of which are combined with calligraphic writing. In the 1950s, after immigrating to Israel, he switched to an abstract style. Pima also created in various mediums - oil, watercolors, gouache, etching, and more.
Pima exhibited in exhibitions at the Israel Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum, the Manne Katz Museum in Haifa, as well as in museums around the world such as the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Jewish Museum in New York, and more
