Biography
Dmitry Kolomoitsev is an artist whose work blends Ukrainian symbolism with Eastern philosophy
Dmitry Kolomoitsev was born in 1976 in Donetsk, Ukraine. In 2015, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and took part in defending the city of Shchastya in the Luhansk region.
The central theme of Dmitry's art lies in exploring new dimensions of iconic Ukrainian and global symbols. Irony and stillness seamlessly merge in his paintings, offering a fresh perspective on Ukrainian culture and daily life, both in the context of the war in Donbass and within the broader framework of human civilization.
Prior to 2015, Dmitry spent nearly a decade traveling through Southeast Asia, visiting countries like India, Thailand, and Cambodia. His time in Asia profoundly influenced his work, infusing it with the essence of Eastern philosophy. As the artist believes, this philosophy holds the potential to reconcile many of Ukraine's deep-rooted social contradictions.
