My mother, Klaudia Osheva, was a professional artist, so from an early age, I experienced the magic of creativity.
My father, a professor and Doctor of Biological Sciences, was an ornithologist—hence my passion for birds and nature as a whole.
During my childhood and teenage years, I attended ballet and piano classes, art studio sessions, wilderness expeditions and mountain hikes with my father, and plein-air painting trips with my mother.
I graduated from university with a degree in Roman-German Philology. But as the years passed, painting continued to call me. Eventually, I “surrendered,” choosing to change my profession. Not wanting to remain an amateur, I earned a second degree from Odessa College of Arts "Grekovka."
I began exhibiting while still studying at the college, which led to numerous local, national, All-Soviet Union, and international exhibitions.
I have been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1986.
My preferred medium is oil on canvas. My favored genre is figurative art—compositions of "more than one approach." They require knowledge across all genres: portrait, landscape, still life—only then is your imagination free from internal limitations.
I have also worked in graphics, ceramics, murals, and theatrical design—as art director and costume designer for several productions at the Odessa Drama Theatre.
It pleases me that my paintings are in private collections in dozens of countries around the world, from Japan and Australia through Europe to both coasts of the USA.
Two of my portraits are held in the collection of the Royal Geographical Society, London.
